I can’t speak highly enough of Dr. Mandelbaum. When I first started working with him, I was experiencing levels of anxiety with which I’d never grappled. Right off the bat, Dr. Mandelbaum helped reduce my stress levels and provided me with tools to handle every kind of life situation. Dr. Mandelbaum combines his deep expertise in DBT with a tremendous personal feel, and has assisted me in every facet of my life.

The introduction to DBT that we did gave me some additional tools to work with which complement my meditation practice very nicely. Basically, DBT provides soothing and coping mechanisms, in addition to practicing awareness to inform you that triggering factors are present. Meditation has helped me tremendously, in my being aware of my mental state, and while I strive to nip that kind of thing in the bud, before the chemical cascade takes over, DBT skills fit right into that space. It's like a toolbox of behaviors that interrupt that storm.

Over the past few months of this pandemic, Dr. Mandelbaum has been an incredible pillar of support in my life. The difference between where I was and where I am in regards to my emotions, approach to the professional world and sense of agency is monumental and I could not be more grateful. From our first conversation, the rapport we shared made tough conversations easy and very comfortable. The skills and guidance he has offered over this time are invaluable and I will continue to appreciate just how much he has helped me. I know he genuinely cares about me, my success and my overall well-being and I do not know where I'd be had it not been for his support.
-MS
Dr. Mandelbaum: You have helped me find wonder in my life again and I am very grateful. Thank you for everything you have guided me through. To say that our time together was "helpful" would be an understatement. Thank you for the work you do and thank you for your dedication.

I came to Dr. Mandelbaum seeking help managing my high levels of anxiety & fear that were impacting my behavior & relationships at work and home. Over the 18 months of treatment, Dr. Mandelbaum provided practical tools and actionable goals that lowered my heightened emotional state and improved my mental well being. He taught me techniques that have dramatically reduced my interpersonal conflicts and given me better, healthier and more meaningful relationships personally & professionally. Thank you Dr. Mandelbaum!

Dr. Mandelbaum is the best therapist I have ever had. He has helped me to deal with trauma and bipolar disorder, enabling me to become a high functioning happy healthy adult.

Since we started working together in 2019, I had major difficulties and had to transfer graduate schools, was very unsure about my career path, and was harming myself through unfulfilling casual dating situations. At the lowest points, especially during COVID19, I became extremely depressed, gained weight, & spent all my time in bed.

Through deep analysis, DBT skills training, working on what a healthy daily routine should look like, finding ways to quit smoking and cut back on alcohol, and learning how to be kind to myself, I slowly began to heal.

Dr. Mandelbaum is very empathetic, flexible, well read, and a great teacher - he integrates worksheets, poetry, music, art, and meditation techniques to help the patient in a 360 degree holistic way. I have a backpack of tools now to use to balance my moods, cope with difficult situations, and turn the mind.

Although I am not exactly where I want to be now, I have regained my confidence, self esteem, and pride. I am on track to complete graduate school, my career is more than back on track, which includes me building 2 social entrepreneurial ventures, I have learned to stand up for myself and say “no,” I have a stronger relationship with family and friends, and I do not feel alone even though I am single.

I have had a great experience working with Dr. Mandelbaum. When I started seeing him, I struggled with self-confidence and being productive. Often times, I found myself held back by my own thoughts and worries. Dr. Mandelbaum offered me an open listening ear, and practical skills I could use daily. Through the use of these mindfulness tools, I have dramatically improved my confidence levels and achieved many personal and professional goals. I have very happily worked with Dr. Mandelbaum for the last nine months, and I'm excited to see where I will be in another nine.

Dr. Mandelbaum, thanks so much. I was in a very dejected place when I found you, and I came not to be! Still lots of work to do: Now I have some stability and can move beyond my survival to my improvement.
-DM
I've been working with Matthew for several months now. He's been great at providing practical tools and resources I can use/practice daily, keeping me accountable to my goals, all while being a generally positive force through a particularly rough patch for me.

Dr. Mandelbaum has shown me that even though I am in pain, I am worthy of doing things. Sometimes I feel that I have pain and even by doing something small, I can accomplish something. I realize that pain will always be there. That does not mean that I cannot be motivated. I can accomplish something. I have been trying to find alternatives to be more independent and I can do things in a relaxed way. Even I if I must do it slowly, I am finding ways to accomplish things on my own. I never used to smile following my trauma. After discussions with Dr. Mandelbaum and doing exercises to help my thoughts and behaviors, I feel at peace. Dr. Mandelbaum has helped me a lot to smile and to find some joy, peace, and tranquility, and to not focus on the trauma.

It is great working with Dr. Mandelbaum. I have learned a lot. He is very understanding. Now, I feel more in control of myself. I handle situations better now. Just by breathing, I can control my temper. I feel like I am going to be a better dad now. I am more understanding. I am going to be a better husband and be more aware at work.

I've tried talk therapy a few times in the past. While those experiences were therapeutic in their own way, I still felt that I didn't know what actions to take next to improve my situation. Dr. Mandelbaum's style was what I was looking for, because I come away from each session with new things to try, and the reasons that these things can work. I now feel like I have more options on the table when I'm faced with difficult situations and feelings, and visits to Dr. Mandelbaum help reinforce what he taught me in the beginning. Instead of my typical pattern of feeling frustrated and hopeless, I can rely on the techniques I've learned. The result is that I feel more in control of my life, and hopeful that it can get even better with more consistent practice of these techniques.

Dr. Mandelbaum was more helpful, more personal, and more involved in the healing process than my prior psychologists. He has more of a human feel. He gave me a lot of tasks and exercises to do, and a regiment to go through. With Dr. Mandelbaum, I went through the gamut of words that I used and ways that I thought to change my narrative. When the trauma happened, I was angry; I did not know how to deal with it. Dr. Mandelbaum helped me go back to what I remembered; he helped me through my past and my depression. He helped me put skills into practice. Dr. Mandelbaum taught me to be independent and interdependent. He helped a lot to use tactics to frame how to bring myself back into the game.
-MB
Dr. Mandelbaum helped me with anger, slow down, breathe, use positive activities, and get out of the house following my trauma. I am more likely to not to sweat things I have no control over and to find little pebble of goodness in everything.
-CB
I sought treatment with Dr. Mandelbaum because I wanted to be a better individual for myself and my family. Working with Dr. Mandelbaum was an awakening for me. Once I started treatments and because of the methods he provided, I saw myself in a positive way. I was introduced to Mother Earth, the healer, the protector, and the Queen: I am a person who has a natural calling and my pride should not overpower love. I learned that I deserve praise for my accomplishments, however small they may have been. I learned that I can allow myself to be cared for and catered to; that it is ok to allow someone to do for me. This was something that I was blinded to.
-CR
After my trauma, Dr. Mandelbaum helped me get stronger and take back some of my power. I am getting there. He made me feel comfortable at home and taught me how to keep busy with activities, so I was not staring into space and not doing anything.
-RO
Dr. Mandelbaum has helped me immensely. He has given me a variety of tools to help rebuild my life; encouragement to have the strength to be who I am, and the confidence to live well within my limitations. I am much better at managing my pain.
-MDP
Dr. Mandelbaum uses more empathy than other doctors to understand me. He provided me with more options to for me to work better to handle my problems.
-MDC
When I first sought help from Dr. Mandelbaum I was burnt out in all respects. I was an overwhelmed mom and professional. He gave me specific tools to combat the burnout and harnessed specific attributes that I had, combined with DBT skills, and I am navigating my challenges so much better. He is also kind and genuinely cares about his patients and helping you be your best self. You will benefit from seeing him.

Dr. Mandelbaum has helped me through many past traumas that I was previously struggling with. He has taught me how to process my emotions and become more effective in my day to day life, and especially through the Covid-19 Pandemic. Learning and executing the DBT skills we have gone through has brought me agency that I had not known before and a sense of inner peace that is unmatched to my previous self. Thank you for changing my life.

I started seeing Dr. Matthew Mandelbaum when I was struggling to get through a day without feeling a sense of overwhelming desperation and anxiety that made basic functioning extremely difficult. As a queer woman I was honestly nervous about having a male therapist, but he has made me feel comfortable and understood in all of our sessions while still holding me accountable. Dr. Mandelbaum has taught me skills and given me tools that have allowed me to entirely change myself and my life. He is compassionate, intelligent, and dedicated to his work.

I've been a patient of numerous psychologists from a young age; however, Dr. Mandelbaum has far exceeded my former concepts and impressions of a psychologist's role. He is invested in my personal and professional life—continuously encouraging and inspiring me with highly specialized Dialectical Behavior Skills. I can say without hesitation, Dr. Mandelbaum is exceptionally committed to the wellness of his patients and has never failed to provide me with unique and accommodating coping mechanisms that have given me the skills and self-confidence to flourish.
-CF
I've learned so much about myself and great tools to sustainably self care!

I work in financial services in a highly stressful, eat-what-you-kill type of environment. Prior to working with Dr. Matthew Mandelbaum, I had reached a plateau in how effective I could be in my communication both with my clients and in my romantic relationship, because my childhood traumas had left me feeling consistency vulnerable, victimized and not in control. Matthew has helped me connect with my adult self, to recognize my competencies in problem-solving, and to at the same time recognize my challenges in relationship effectiveness that are a by-product of my childhood traumas. Working with Matthew has directly facilitated my ability to remain calm in the present moment in tense business negotiations. It has also helped me identify when I’m engaging in the present moment as a personal partner versus when I’m reverting back to ineffective relational patterns that I learned in childhood, and it is this very noticing in the present moment that changes the game for all of us. Once we can see how we are unintentionally self-sabotaging, there is hope for every single one of us, no matter how deep our traumas may be, that we can lead a happy, conscious and related life. Matthew has been a hugely beneficial influence for me in achieving this point of view.

I have never seen a doctor work as hard as Dr. Mandelbaum. Dr. Mandelbaum explains things with passion and with a desire for me to understand and put things into practice. I had to change. He helped me to change. When I am out in the world, I think of him. He is the best doctor. He has helped me a lot. Dr. Mandelbaum helps me find solutions by giving clear examples and helping me be able to practice. He gives me the advice that I need and believes that I can be better. He shows concern for me and wants me to be the best in my life. This is what I feel in my heart. A lot of things have changed since I came to see him.

Dr. Mandelbaum is highly professional. He has helped my husband be more peaceful, sleep better, use his mind more, and catch himself when things seem down. Slowly and surely, my husband has been able to help himself by applying skills to improve his life. I was a witness to my husband’s change; Dr. Mandelbaum really helped. Time with Dr. Mandelbaum is valuable.

Dr. Mandelbaum helps me understand my problems. I feel relieved when coming out of his office. By working with Dr. Mandelbaum, I feel very happy and very satisfied. I feel better about myself and my situation. Dr. Mandelbaum makes me feel cared for, listened to, and understood. He is an easy person to talk to. Dr. Mandelbaum has helped me expand my capabilities in communication. I have now become a better listener and watcher than just an activist and doer. When I need to find peace in myself, I think of him telling me to open my palms and breathe. I do just that. It helps me be calm. He is etched in my brain. Dr. Mandelbaum has the uncanny ability to make me feel understood – like we travel on the same thought wave length. When issues came up with my parents, he helped give us structure so we can be together. He gave us healthy boundaries so we can live together. I have become more patient since working with Dr. Mandelbaum.
-MB
I enlisted Dr. Mandelbaum at a very dark period of my life, career-wise, and sanity-wise. With his cognitive and dialectic behavioral insights, he helped me to regain control over a bipolar disorder I'd become neurotic about, as well as formulate a plan of attack to interview for and eventually gain a better job. This plan was built on my strengths and weaknesses, which Dr. Mandelbaum was surprisingly quick to devise. I was able to negotiate some tough situations in a way I could not have a few months before. I'm very grateful.
-CM
Dr. Mandelbaum listens to me. I like the advice and exercises he gives me. I enjoy them and they help me. I feared people after experiencing trauma. He helped me understand that if you look the part, it doesn’t mean you will act in a certain way. I now believe that who you are is not necessarily defined by how you look. I feel more comfortable in the world. Discussions with Dr. Mandelbaum made me feel good and are enlightening. I am more relaxed, sleep better, continue to work with my medial doctors on medications and have improved my relationships, too.
-BC
With Dr. Mandelbaum’s teaching, I put into practice meditation and mindfulness to help me clear my thoughts. I used to just be stuck in my thoughts. Now, I use my skills to stop thinking about my problems all the time. Dr. Mandelbaum made a huge difference in the way that I think. Before, I was thinking negative, I did not see the light. Now, I take it one day at a time and am doing the best I can. Dr. Mandelbaum taught me things to work on myself, focusing on me and my kids. I focus on me to be there for them. He helped with parenting.

I like working with Dr. Mandelbaum. His words go deep in my heart to help me feel better.
