With Dr. Matthew G. Mandelbaum’s Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), you have the opportunity to learn with someone who has been comprehensively and intensively trained by The Linehan Institute’s Behavioral Tech.
Dr. Mandelbaum customizes treatment to meet the needs of Professionals in Business, Healthcare, Law, Tech, the Arts and Education, Emerging Adults and University Students, addressing the unique challenges, including identity development, social growth, and academic and professional achievement. You will learn how to live and practice throughout your environments.
There should be a warm, open environment where you feel comfortable learning new skills and learning problem-solving methods in Mindfulness, Interpersonal Effectiveness, Emotion Regulation, and Distress Tolerance. These skills should help you handle the pressures of life and “Build a Life Worth Living,” as Dr. Marsha Linehan says. I believe that this phrase can be transformed into “Build a Life of Worth”.
You deserve to create a life that has meaning and purpose, where you can be mindful to the present moment and have a wide-range of strategies to which you can authorize yourself to choose what works and be effective in various aspects of your life.
In therapy, you have the opportunity to delve deeper into understanding your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors in order to replace less helpful ones with more helpful ones, so you can work on accumulating positive experiences and become more effective at living your life, while incorporating DBT skills and a DBT mindset. In therapy, you will spend part of the time learning new skills and part of the time reviewing your previous week’s progress utilizing the learned skills in your daily life.
You can have the opportunity to feel supported and challenged when needed, so that you can begin to get in touch with your authentic self. You can expect to create hopes and dreams for your life, both big and small, and begin to make action plans for how to achieve them.
You can have the opportunity to feel as if you are on a journey of self-discovery and of discovering the world around you that may seem familiar and yet new. You may even begin to feel stronger, more confident, and more prepared to make your mark on the world. You may feel proud of yourself and filled with gratitude.
Many of your experiences will depend on how much you put into your practice. You will be supported to practice making your life better.
