In Dialectical Behavior Therapy, you will learn to replace maladaptive behaviors with more helpful ones.
These new behaviors will be a part of one of four categories:
Mindfulness (The ability to be wise and in the present moment.)
Interpersonal Effectiveness (The ability to form productive relationships with self-respect.)
Emotion Regulation (The ability to understand and manage the full range of emotions.)
Distress Tolerance (The ability to take care of yourself during sub-optimal times.)
You will learn DBT in the context of your environment as it will become your laboratory for practicing skills in a whole host of environments: where you work, where you study, where you live, and where you go about your daily chores.
In DBT Skills groups you will have time to talk about your week’s experiences and discuss how you have been skillful. We will help you become more adept at using skills and we will teach you new ones to use in the coming week.
Over time, you can become used to combining skills with more complex scenarios and using them to build the life you want.
You may find yourself filled with more hope and filled with a sense of empowerment that you can take on more challenges. You may feel safe to dream and create a roadmap to reach your goals.
Dialectical Behavior Skills can be effective for Executives, Business Professionals, Emerging Adults, University Students, and Educators.
